The Association, created in the Fall of 1986, received its patent letters on October 27^th of the same year. The official inauguration came on May 20^th 1989 with the first meeting held in Saint-Grégoire-de-Bécancour, Québec. A few hundred participants attended this successful gathering.

The goals and objectives of the Association are :

• to regroup all the descendants in direct or indirect lines of ANTOINE BOURG;
  
• to organize conferences and meetings for the purpose of making known the history and the genealogy of the family;
  
• to edit, print and distribute different kind of publications related to the history of the family.

A fifteen member Board of Directors is responsible for the administration of the Association. These members are elected by the General Assembly for a three year mandate, renewable.
